Employee Spotlight – Karen

Karen Taormina is a Manager at Breakwater Accounting + Advisory, bringing strong leadership and deep financial expertise to the team. A Wilmington, Delaware native who still proudly calls the area home, Karen has built her career on a solid academic foundation, earning a BS in Economics from the University of Delaware and an MBA from Wilmington University.

Before joining Breakwater, Karen spent her career as a Financial Manager in the financial services industry. Through this experience, she developed a strategic mindset and a strong understanding of complex financial environments. Her background allows her to guide clients with clarity and confidence while supporting her team with thoughtful, informed leadership.

One of Karen’s favorite parts of working at Breakwater is the team-based approach to client management. She values the collaboration and shared responsibility that ensure clients receive well-rounded, high-quality support. This collective mindset aligns closely with her belief that the best results come from working together toward common goals.

Outside of work, Karen enjoys traveling and skiing, always looking for her next adventure. When she’s closer to home, Bethany Beach, Delaware is her favorite place to unwind and recharge. We’re grateful to have Karen on the Breakwater team and appreciate the experience, teamwork, and dedication she brings to both clients and colleagues.
