Challenge

Girls on the Run began as a passion project with a critical mission: to empower the girls of today to become the leaders of tomorrow. At first, a volunteer Treasurer was keeping the books proficiently, but as the organization grew in size and popularity, it needed a dedicated team with professional skills to handle the volume.

Solution

Since 2015, Breakwater has handled recording of all financial transactions and bank reconciliations monthly. Every month, the firm also produces balance sheet, P&L and budgets vs. actuals reports and includes high-level commentary on variances.

Result

The new financial system has given the organization the tools and confidence to grow revenues, program participation, grant funding and individual donor support.
